Coca-cola cake

Ingredients

  • 250 gr unsalted butter, at room temperature
  • 250 gr self-rise flour
  • 300 gr sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 3 tablespoon cacao powder
  • 200 ml coca-cola
  • 75 ml milk
  • 2 large eggs, at room temperature

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Sift together the flour, baking soda, cacao and set aside.
  2. In a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, mix the butter and sugar on medium speed until airy and creamy.
  3. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition (scrape down the sides if necessary). Still on medium speed, add the cococa-cola and milk and mixing until well incorporated.
  4. Add the flour, baking soda and cacao. Make sure that all the ingredients are well incorporated but do not overbeat.
  5. Spoon the batter into the single cake pan.
  6. Bake for 40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center of the cupcake comes out clean.

For topping

  • 60gr unsalted butter, at room temperature
  • 2 tablespoon coca-cola
  • 3 tablespoon cacao powder
  • 200 gr powdered sugar, sifted

In a medium bowl, combine all topping ingredients.

  • 500 g strawberries
  • 400 ml water
  • 250 g sugar
  • 3-4 mint branch


Directions

  1. Boil the water, add the sugar
  2. Boiling until the sugar is melted
  3. Add the mint leaves and pour the sirup over the strawberries
  4. Let stands for 30 minutes

My Little FabricMy Little Fabric

I’m thrilled about today’s post. It is about Aline Caron, a french designer, photographer and stylist. I can frankly say that her images are one of the most beautiful things that I have discovered through internet. Her delicious photography and marvelous typography makes me melt.

Aline shares her work/play through her lovely blog My Little Fabric. She also is one of the authors behind the blog Culinographie together with Parigote and Christelle. Culinographie in fact means “foodography” and there you can read useful cooking and photography tips and tricks. Although the blog is in French, the non-Francophones of you can admire at the lovely images these talented girls have made.

Aline Caron is also the author of the funny cookbook Goûters Rigolos. It is about funny snacks, teatime and birthday parties for kids. Read more about her adventure with the book here.
